A new wedding for a new year! I am excited about this post, because it is my first wedding in Johannesburg. It feels weird to be photographing a wedding in a different location and climate than what your used to. But as soon as the day started the photography instinct kicked in and everything was back to normal.
John & Stephany had a beautiful marriage ceremony at the Anglican Church at St. John’s College and their reception was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sandton. We have two totaly different locations (traditional and modern) that gave me a lot of variety to use for their pictures. Stephany had such a natural and beautiful smile that it was easy it very easy to take portraits of her.
Thank you Stephany & John for flying me up to Joburg to photograph your wedding. You two make a lovely couple and it is both your spontaneity that gave these images fun. When I made my selection for the blog, I chose more black & white images than color. Enjoy the rest of the post…

Here is another beautiful wedding on a clear sunny day. Lizanne (SA) and Aaron (Aus) met each other when they where working in London. Lizanne moved to Brisbane, Australia, with Aaron where they got married and had a small ceremony. They recently returned to give their South African family and friends a beautiful wedding ceremony at Bodega Restaurant, Dornier Wines, Stellenbosch. She was escorted to the wedding in a beautiful Ford Mustang (one of my favorite cars). Their pre-drinks was held under big trees. The branches were decorated with fabric hearts giving it a relaxed, picnic feeling. We waited for the day to cool of to photographed their couple.
Here is something funny. One of our best friend, Erna (also staying in Brisbane, Australia) is also friends with Lizanne. When Erna asked her who will be taking her wedding pictures (without knowing who the photographer will be), Lizanne answer the I will be taking their wedding pictures. What a small world!

Lizanne & Aaron, thank you for photographing your beautiful wedding. It was a real honor working with you and I wish you all of the best for your marraige. Here are some of my favorite images of the day.

This was one of my favorite beach wedding that I have photographed. Anton & Gwen both love the sea and that is why they chose Strandkombuis in Yzerfontein as their venue. I loved the fact that the venue is so close to the beach (almost on the beach) and they serve really great seafood for the guests to eat. The beautiful white beach house where Gwen got dressed was such a great location the photos off. There was also a breathtaking sunset that evening. I am not too good with sunset or landscape photography, but I have never spend so much time focusing on some great sunset shots. That was great fun. What can I say… I really loved this experience. The West Coast of South Africa has an unique beauty to it and it’s worth it to make a road trip up that way. Big thanks to Gwen & Anton for being part of your beautiful day. I love the last shot of the post. I photographed it on the dance floor with very little available light, but I love the colors.

There was a time this year that the blog was quite and no new work was posted. That was because we went on vacation for the first time in a long time. This trip to our families beach house in Pringle Bay and to Greyton was a great outing. We got to spent time together as a little family and recharge our batteries as we prepared for the new season ahead. I came back inspired and with a bigger zeal for my work. This was one the best trips and I will always cherish the memories. A special thanks to wife & daughter, Zani and Amelie. You two are the best gifts that God has given me. Here are some of the amazing images that I photographed on this trip. Most of the images are of Amelie.

Here is a stunning wedding that I photographed for Johann & Miranda at Clouds Estate, outside Stellenbosch. I love the new deck extension at the Clouds. It really gave me new inspiration and ideas photographing this wedding.

Martin& Elaine had a beautiful beach ceremony at Oude Kraal Beach. The wedding was a bit delayed after we waited for the rice & popcorn confetti to arrive. Never the less, the show must go on! The light dress that Elaine wore on her wedding day totally enhanced the look and made her look stunning. Beautiful couple shots followed on the beach between the rocks and in their stunning ride on the way to the reception. Their reception was held at the Suikerbossie Restaurant overlooking the valley of Hout Bay with Chapman’s Peak and the bay below. With urther ado, here is some of the photographs from the wedding.

A new post to start the week of on a good note. Callie & & Suzanne got married in the Dutch Reformed Church in Philadelpia. After the ceremony, we photographed a fun photo session (really loads of fun) with the couple around Philadelpia. A beautiful and fun reception awaited them at the Cassia Restaurant at the Nitida, outside Durbanville. A great band provides some great tunes to dance the night away. Here are a shots from Callie & Suzanne’s wedding day.

Here is the wedding that I have been waiting for a few weeks to blog now! These are the beautifulmoments from Lloyd & Laetitia’s wedding day. The last time I saw these two love birds was with their “Save the Date” photos in the end of last year. Their wedding day was truly an awesome experience to photograph.
First up was their beautiful wedding on a boat just outside of the harbor (felt like I was on this cool boat with the hot chicks inthe Bahamas). This was my first wedding at sea and I didn’t let a little sea sickness get ahold of me. I had a fabulous time on the boat photographing some awesomemoments and enjoying the ride! With a lot of adrenaline pumping and a few wobblysea legs, we persuaded the great Long Street in Cape Town for their couple session. Iplayed around with a few actions in the editing process to give it that classicNew Yorklook. We returned to the Grand Daddy Hotel where they had a feast with their guests and partied the night away! The GrandDaddy is one of my favorite new venues and it is a photographer’s dream venue(just so many cool spot). Again, big thanks to Lloyd & Laetitia. You were the stars of your wedding day! Thankyou for making me part of your fabulous day. All of the best for New Guinea.I have said enough, let the photos speak for themselves…

I assisted Jean Pierre Uys at a Kluk & CGDT Fashion Show. Our goal was to capture the main event, all the celebrities and to get some creative behind the scenes images. The really beautiful color lights gave us really great opportunities to capture really creative photographs. The fashion show had a fun twist to it. Instead of a catwalk there were about 6 platforms with steps for the models to stand on and display the clothing. From great dancers to a great orchestra, what more could we ask for. Here are some of the images that really move me.

Finally, the last wedding of 2008. Christoph and Jade got married in the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Stellenbosch. Christoph came over all the way from Germany with his friend and family to get married to our local girl, Jade. After their beautiful ceremony, we traveled to Nelson’s Creek, just outside Wellington, for their reception. Jade was truly a beautiful bride and I really loved bringing out her natural beauty in the photographs (Christoph, you are a lucky guy!). Even Christoph was fun to work with. I love the beautiful natural feeling in their couple session. You can see that there is chemistry between the two of them (Love is in the air…). Sadly, we say goodbye to Jade as she leaves her homeland to start a new life with her husband in Germany.
Jade & Christoph, thank you for being such a great couple to work with. Best of wishes for the both of you and know that you will have a great life together in Germany. Maybe I’ll come and visit you one day in Germany. Boy, what a wedding to end off the year. There were so many great moments, but I had to pin-point it down to my absolute favorites! Good bye and enjoy the photos… Auf Wiedersehen und die Fotos genießen!
