Rory & Ann-Marie’s Wedding at Groot Constantia

Finally,a fresh new wedding on my blog after a few weeks of silence. Rory & Ann-Marie invited a few family and friends for a outdoor wedding at the beautiful Groot Constantia. The ceremony was followed by a wine tasting and some lovely canopays. I loved the beautiful blue Cobra that they hired for the day (it was a great prop for their couple session). Because of the great history, scenery and architecture of the venue, photographing the two love birds was a walk in the “vineyards”. A small reception was held at the Simon’s Restaurant at Groot Constantia. Here are a few images and highlights of their wedding day. For the photographers out there, I started using Lightroom 2.3 to edit some of the images.  Hope you enjoy the photographs.

Wadda & Arina’s Beach Couple Shoot

Here is a couple/e-session of Wadda & Arina, our very good friends. Some of you might have seen some of these images on my Lifestyle & Portraiture website. I photographed the two of them at Derde Steen Beach on very windy Sunday afternoon. This was the first shoot with my 5D Mark II. I really loved the color of the images that the camera produced. It feels great to shoot in a pro-body! Zani has been best friends with Arina since Primary School days and, funny enough, Wadda dated Zani in High school.  Wadda & Arina got married in February this year and I had the honor to photograph their special day.  Zani decided to print some of these pictures from the couple session to make a little guest book for their guests to write them short messages on their wedding day. Here are a few of my favorite images of that shoot. Their wedding photos will be posted next week on the blog.

Ruan & Nessa’s Wedding at Morgenhof

South African boy, Ruan, married a beautiful Irish girl, Nessa, at the Morgenhof Wine Estate just outside Stellenbosh.  It’s the first time that I witnessed popcorn used after the ceremony to shower the couple. They were so in love and so easy to work with during their shoot around the estate. The proof is truely in the pudding and I am happy with the end results.  The reception was filled with Irish dancing, a great kick-ass band, fun and laughter.  Ruan & Nessa, you were a great couple to work with. Thanks you for being part of your beautiful day.  Here are a few beautiful images of their wedding day.

Me on Top Billing with Jean-Pierre Uys

For those of you who missed Jean-Pierre Uys’s Trash The Dress insert on Top Billing, here is the YouTube clip. The magazine show, Top Billing, did an interview in the end of last year with Jean-Pierre where he talked about trends in wedding photography and also photographed two Trash the Dress sessions.  I was one of Jean-Pierre’s assistant for the day, controling the big flash light and handing the equipment to him. I always loved working on TV and movie sets in the past, so the camera was nothing new for me. I do not want to give too much information away. I hope that I don’t make a fool of myself. Also go to Jean Pierre’s Blog to view some of the pictures of the day. I just want to thank Jean-Pierre for the awesome opportunity and for  a great day of fun in the sun.

Portraits of People

I am busy photographing people for a portrait study in my free time.  As you know, capturing the essence and personality of a person on camera is what I love doing.  If there is anyone who wants to partake of this portrait study, you are more than welcome to contact me.  I am doing this for extra bit of fun and inspiration on the sideline. This portrait is taken of Zani Aunt, Tannie Perel.  She is a breast cancer survivor and a wonderful, caring person.
